Kaza, Elazığ-Çemişgezek karayolunun 35. kilometresinde meydana geldi. Edinilen bilgiye göre, Hasan Üngüzek (62) idaresindeki 23 AL 963 plakalı otomobil, aynı yönde seyir halinde olan S.Ü. yönetimindeki 23 LV 449 plakalı tırın dorsesine çarptı. Kazada sürücü Üngüzek ve eşi Sevgi Üngüzek (65) olay yerinde hayatını kaybederken 2 kişi de yaralandı. Haber verilmesi üzerine olay yerine sağlık, itfaiye, AFAD, UMKE ve jandarma ekipleri sevk edildi. Yaralılar, olay yerinde yapılan ilk müdahalenin ardından ambulanslarla kentteki hastanelere kaldırıldı. Karı kocanın cansız bedeni yapılan incelemenin ardından Fırat Üniversitesi Hastanesi morguna kaldırıldı.

Kazayla ilgili geniş çaplı inceleme başlatıldı.
