Following a court case at the Ankara 2nd Intellectual and Industrial Rights Court, it was found that a book published in 2022 contained plagiarized content.

The court ordered a ban on the reprinting, distribution, and the collection of existing copies of the book. Additionally, the author was ordered to pay a fine of 11,025 liras to the original author.

The plaintiff's lawyer stated that their client had published the first book about the famous folk poet in 1999, which went through seven editions and was even translated into English and used as a textbook at Bilkent University.

The expert panel evaluated the two books and concluded that the defendant had used content from the plaintiff's book without proper citation, exceeding the boundaries of fair use.

It was noted that the defendant failed to provide proper references for the information used in the book and did not credit the original author at the end of the book..
